Over-Seasoned: When There’s Too Much on Your Plate

There are times in life when everything begins to feel just a little too heavy.

Not in dramatic ways.

Not all at once.

But slowly ~ quietly ~ the demands of daily life begin to layer themselves into your days. Kind of like a lasagna that you never intended to make.

A responsibility here. An expectation there. Another commitment you agree to because it feels easier to say yes than to explain why you need space. How many times have you done this?

Before long, your life can start to feel, well, over-seasoned.

Stress becomes part of the routine. Emotional labor becomes invisible but constant. You find yourself holding things together for everyone else while quietly wondering who is holding space for you.

Many women become experts at managing this and are proud of it! They show up. They keep going. They adjust.

They convince themselves that this is simply what life looks like now.

But living in a constant state of overwhelm slowly changes how we feel ~ in our minds🧠, in our bodies🧘‍♀️, and in the way we experience our days👁‍🗨.

Over-responsibility can begin to replace joy. Busyness can crowd out reflection. And saying yes when you truly mean no can leave you feeling disconnected from your own needs.

What once felt meaningful can begin to feel exhausting.

What once felt purposeful can begin to feel like pressure.

The truth is, life is not meant to feel perfectly balanced all the time. There will always be seasons that require more of us. But when every day begins to feel like you are carrying too much, it may be a sign that something is ready to shift.

Awareness is not failure. It is an invitation.

An invitation to pause. To notice. To ask yourself what is truly nourishing you ~ and what may no longer belong on your plate.

Refining your life does not mean walking away from your responsibilities or becoming someone different. It simply means becoming more intentional about where your energy goes. You actually do have a choice in this buffet of life.

Sometimes the most powerful change begins with one small decision. One honest boundary. One moment of choosing yourself without guilt.

This season may be asking you to release what feels heavy and make space for what restores you. No explanation needed ~ (sigh), how would that feel?

Not all at once. Not perfectly. But gently, and with compassion for yourself.

Because when you begin to adjust the ingredients of your life, the entire experience can begin to feel lighter and maybe even a bit more fun!

If you’re feeling ready to explore what might need adjusting in your life, I invite you to begin with a conversation.

Let’s refine what no longer serves you and add in what does!
